Introduction to History of Photojournalism

What is photojournalism? Many people till this day don’t know the answer to this question. In John Nordell’s Video, What is Photojournalism?, he says “ Photographs created to be published in journals” and “Photojournalists they photograph verbs, people doing things”. . Photojournalist are always prepared to capture a moment, which means taking a picture of something as soon as it began. In the website, The Spruce Crafts, they say Photojournalists bring us the visual images of a story that back up a writer's words. "Photojournalism started to take shape when photographers could easily transport cameras into war zones."History of Photojournalism is important because learning about history is not only through words, it is through photos that have action in them which is called photojournalism. In the video, In Harms Way, it talks how these two people Zoriah and Alissa put themselves in danger in order to take photos that best tells a story of conflict. Photojournalism isn't just war and violence, it can also be a photo of a biker in a race or something else that has action and making a moment.

Watching another video, History.., I learned that history is mostly anything. It says, "history is no boundaries, common sense, larger than life, humanity, attitude, crucial, extraordinary, compassion, righting wrongs, all shook up, progress". This video really made me think that history plays a big role in our lives. The past is history. The first photo shows photojournalism. This photo was taken when war was happening, the photojournalist put themselves in danger in order to capture such a powerful moment. The second photo shows how photojournalism can be more than just a photo of war and bad things but also good things and nature. They captured whales in their habitat and just the movement of the water with the people and the fishes it was a perfect picture. Photos help us to understand news better instead of wondering how everything looked when reading the news. If you were to see old photojournalism and new ones you would see that a lot has stayed the same, they just have more supplies for their photos to make it look better. I never knew that photojournalism was a big part of history and now that I do, I understand why photos are so important and capturing the moment, and going close up to expressions of peoples faces.
